Eyelash Extensions

People who decide to have their eyelashes extended are predominantly people who don’t want to waste time putting on mascara every morning and who want to look beautiful without having to spend a long time on the manual thickening and extending of eyelashes with mascara. People whose natural lashes are very short may also consider extensions. Lashes that are extended using the 1:1 method are not stuck together and can easily be brushed with a comb or a brush.

What does eyelash extension involve?

During the procedure, the beautician applies one false eyelash at a minimum distance from the natural one, i.e. one extension per natural eyelash (the 1:1 ratio). 2D, 3D or 4D (the so called “volume method”) extensions consist in applying, respectively, two, three or four false eyelashes to the natural one. They are made of ultra-light material, which does not weigh down on or damage natural lashes.

Before the procedure

The most important is to remember not to wear makeup on eyelashes and eyebrows before going to the beautician. It is best to carefully remove the makeup at home so that after arrival to the salon, the procedure could be started straightaway. Since the procedure may be lengthy, it is recommended to come full and rested.

If you wear contact lenses, remember to take them off before the procedure. You can also do it in our beauty salon, but remember to take the contact lens case to store them safely during the procedure.

The first 48 hours after the eyelash extension procedure

For up to 24 hours after the eyelash extension procedure, do not wash or touch the extensions.  It is best to leave them alone (the glue needs around 24 hours to evaporate and harden). You can comb them through, of course.

For up to 48 hours after the procedure, do not use the sauna, solarium and swimming pool or expose the lashes to hot steam or sources of heat. The glue used for eyelash extensions needs around 48 hours to harden completely, during which time it is still sensitive to heat and dampness.

Post-treatment care recommendations

  • Do not use mascara or curler.

  • Avoid makeup removal cosmetics with glycol, urea, carbonates, proteins or acids.  In short, avoid using greasy cosmetics close to the eye, e.g. dual-phase removers, oil, greasy cream etc. Greasy agents weaken the glue bond and reduce application durability.

  • Remove makeup carefully so that no wad remains are left on the eyelash base. Otherwise you might tear off the extension or inadvertently damage your natural eyelashes. Ask the beautician how to remove the makeup safely and correctly as well as how to care about the extended eyelashes.

  • Try to avoid direct sources of heat and rubbing the eye. For washing, it is best to use a soft brush and children’s shampoo lathered in hand with a little bit of water. Such a mix will handle well the dirt between the lashes while not damaging their look.

  • Refill the lashes every 2-3 weeks!

FAQ

1) Can I extend the lashes on my own?

No. Note that the procedure uses strong adhesives, which must not get into the eye. Not knowing exactly where you are applying the extension, you may only do yourself harm. That is why we recommend you to undergo the procedure at a certified beautician’s.

2) How long does the effect last?

The extensions last up to 90 days, just like the natural eyelash. However, the extended eyelash grows with the natural one, and when it is 3.4 mm, false eyelashes may weigh down on the natural ones and make them droop or tangle, which is why a refill is recommended every 2-3 weeks.

3) I have thin natural eyelashes. Will the procedure not damage them?

No, a well performed extension procedure is non-invasive. However, it is important for the beautician to choose thin lashes for you so that they are 3/4 of the length of the false one. This will help you avoid the burden during growth.

4) I have strong, thick lashes. Why extend them?

With strong lashes, you can apply a thicker false lash, so the difference in the look will still be visible. However, the biggest benefit is the time saved. You no longer have to make them up and no mascara will give you the same effect.
